Come early for a choice table this Friday, April 6 at the Legion PODS Quiz Night starting at 6:30 p.m. Enjoy a fun evening out at this very popular event for a great cause. Come early to enjoy fish and chips.

The Bargain Barn president Linda Pearson was thrilled to hand over a cheque for $20,000 to John Rathbone, the Harbour Health Centre finance and administration manager. The money was raised from community donated items sold at the Bargain Barn and will be used to provide funding for the health and welfare of our community. Thanks to the enormous fundraising efforts of the wonderful Auxiliary and the many committed Bargain Barn volunteers helping to provide quality health care in our community. 

Master gardener Ron Knight will present Pruning with Confidence at the Pender Harbour Garden Club meeting Monday, April 9, 1 to 3 p.m. at the School of Music. This slideshow presentation will teach the general principles needed to prune any ornamental shrub, tree or vine. Bring a pen for the handout sheets to work on while watching the slides. Annual garden club membership is $15 or $5 drop-in fee. Complimentary tea, coffee and goodies at the beginning of the meeting. 

April 10, Women’s Connection welcomes guest speakers Alain Leveseque and Tricia Keyes in home catering. Alain began his culinary journey more than 30 years ago in Quebec City, honed his skills in Montreal and Toronto, opened his own restaurant with his wife then, after 20 years, adventured to the Sunshine Coast. Oui Cook was born. Come hear about their journey and enjoy tantalizing tidbits. 

Thursday, April 12 Harbourside Friendship will move to the Legion for a special lunch with Pamela Goldsmith-Jones at noon. Cost is $12. 

Next Friday, April 13 Pender Harbour Music Society’s Coffee House is very pleased to present Millar-Bowie Band, folk, pop rock, jazz covers and originals; Reflections, women’s vocal ensemble; and Renee Harper, talented local singer. The EarthFair Store will host another great author Pat Ardley, of Grizzlies, Gales and Giant Salmon at Rivers Inlet Fishing Lodge. Come by April 13, 2 p.m. pick up a copy, meet the author and have your book signed.
