The Legion has their fabulous ham, turkey and pie auction this Saturday, March 24 starting at 3:15 p.m. This is always a very popular event, so get there early! 

Come to a Grizzly Bear Birthday Party on Sunday, March 25, 1 to 3 p.m. at the Iris Griffith Centre. Enjoy drumming, slideshows, storytelling, tea and birthday cake. Special guests from the shíshálh Nation, Andy Johnson and Stolo Nation elder Dr. Laura Buker, will be on hand sharing their language and culture. HUGS, our favourite ukulele group will provide the music. 

Sunday, March 25, Shari Ulrich Trio will perform 2 p.m. at the School of Music. This musical legend is joined by her daughter Julia Graff and Cindy Fairbank. Tickets might still be available at Harbour Insurance, Sechelt Visitor Centre and online www.penderharbourmusic.ca 

Women’s Connection March 27 features Tasters with Patrick Henry. The goal of Tasters is to offer the finest and freshest extra virgin olive oils and a delightful selection of best aged and 18 year old balsamic vinegars, all reasonably affordable. Learn of the many health benefits of olive oil. There will be tastings to sample, information on pairings and more. 

Pender Harbour Wildlife Society presents Alexis Harrington’s Patagonia and Antarctica. Explore Patagonia’s landscape, villages and animals and hear stories of Harrington’s travel experiences. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the presentation at 7 p.m. on March 27 at Christ the Redeemer Church. There will be a raffle and refreshments. 

In the evening at 7 p.m. March 27 at the Community Hall mark your date book and attend the Pender Harbour Community Club AGM. Invited guest Cheryle Jensen will speak on her new role as Community Paramedic. Tea and desserts will be served. Join the Club. Cost of an annual membership is $5 for individuals and $10 for families. 

Celebrate Easter when Harbourside Friendships gets together Thursday March 29. The fun starts at 10:30 a.m. at the Com-munity Hall. Lunch is served at noon. Drop in is $10. 

Last chance to get a ticket to PH Blues Society’s Easter dance party with Brickhouse next Saturday March 31 online at www.phblues.ca, Java Docks, or Strait Music for $30. Doors open at 8 p.m. This is a fundraiser for the 15th annual Pender Harbour Blues Festival, coming up June 1 to 3. Confirmed performers are Brent Parkin, Darryl Havers, Kenny “Blues Boss” Wayne, Al Foreman, Jim Byrnes, Jason Buie, Brandon Isaak, Jim Fosters and Simon Paradis. Tickets on sale soon. 

Spring 2018 art classes with instructor Shelley Stunnell are Mondays and Wednesdays 1 to 3 p.m. at Sarah Wray Hall. Charcoal Portraits of Children: Acrylic Pours - April 4 to May 3, Water Based Oils or Acrylic Painting - May 7 to June 1.

Welcome Wagon celebrates 88 years of active and vibrant service in Pender Harbour and Egmont. They are available and excited to visit those who have just moved to the community, are expecting or have a new baby within the last 12 months. Easter Sunday is just a hop away and you have great choices to make yours a fantastic family fun day. The famous Pender Harbour Lions Club Easter Hunt starts off with a pancake breakfast at 9 a.m. Get the kids lined up for the giant Easter Egg Hunt at noon, all provided by the PH Lions Club at PH Lions Park. 

The Sunshine Coast BCSPCA will be hosting the second Annual Easter Eggcitement event at Persephone Brewing Sunday April 1, 9 to 11 a.m.. This fun, child friendly event features an Easter egg hunt, crafts, games and prizes, humane education presentations, a bake sale, coffee and tea. A great event, tons of fun, and you will help the animals in need on the Coast. 

The Pender Harbour Community School is gearing up for another season of Kids Fishing Club. The club will visit the PH Pool for a water safety orientation April 5, from 3 to 5 p.m. Staff from the pool and members of PH Search and Rescue will be teaching kids about water safety and cold water safety procedures. Weather permitting, the club will start fishing at Madeira government dock April 12 at 3 p.m. Come join the fun at the dock, watch the kids fish and help untangle fishing line!
