The Sunshine Coast Hospice Society’s 30th anniversary Fabulous Fifty/50 tickets could win you a prize of up to $15,000. To win you must be 19+ and a resident of B.C. The winning ticket will be drawn on Oct. 5, 8 p.m. at the Sunshine Coast Arts Centre in Sechelt. In Pender Harbour, tickets can be purchased in Madeira Park at Harbour Insurance and Euspiria Café. Volunteers will also be selling tickets outside the IGA in Madeira Park on Saturday, Sept. 16, 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Seniors Initiative activities this coming week start off with walking exercises on Tuesday, Sept. 5. Wear runners and join this easy-paced program 10:30 to 11 a.m. Drop in $3. Wednesday come carpet bowling 1 to 3 p.m. Drop in $3. Reserve now for the Thursday bus trip to Sea to Sky Gondola. The $98 cost includes bus, ferry, gondola and catered lunch. Next Friday, Sept. 8, Pender Harbour Music Society’s Coffee House at the School of Music has two special performances: Bellows and Strings with Anna Lumiere, accordion and piano, and Noah Ord, violin and mandolin, playing a toe-tapping medley of fiddle tunes, world music, waltzes and tangos. Simon Paradis, well known singer/songwriter/guitarist/recording artist will present his original tunes. Coffee and goodies will be sold; suggested donation of $10 at the door. Paws for a Cause, the number one fundraiser province-wide for the BCSPCA, is Sunday, Sept. 10 at Hackett Park. Come for the fun and games and walk to help prevent cruelty to animals. We invite talented bakers, cooks and gardeners to showcase your creations at the Village Market Booth or book a booth of your own. We will pick up any contributions on Saturday, Sept. 10. Join the Pender Harbour Advisory Council at their fall Town Hall Meeting and AGM on Sunday, Sept. 10, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Community Hall in Madeira Park. The Town Hall Meetings are the most important way of connecting with the communities of Pender Harbour and Egmont. They are held to let people know what is going on in the communities and to hear concerns of our residents. Hear about recent developments such as the Dock Management Plan, seniors housing, PODs and more, honour our community volunteer award winners and participate in the AGM.
Girl Guides of Canada, Pender Harbour units are getting ready for another year of adventure, fun and friendship. First meeting for Sparks, Brownies and Guides will be Monday, Sept. 18 after school at the Community Hall. Rangers first meeting TBA.
