Join in the weekly fun with activities brought to you by Seniors Initiative. Wednesday, come carpet bowling 1 to 3 p.m. Drop in is $3. Thursday, Aug. 24, Alan Stewart will speak on housing grants for seniors when Harbourside Friendship meets at 10:30 a.m. Lunch will be served at noon. Drop in is $10. Friday chair yoga with Judy Gideon is 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Drop in is $3. All activities are at the Pender Harbour Community Hall. 

This Living Salish Sea, a new documentary from Sunshine Coast artist and diver Sarama, sponsored by the Ruby Lake Lagoon Society will be shown Saturday, Aug. 26 at the School of Music at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. The film explores the rich diversity of the Salish Sea and the negative impact from LNG and oil transport. A discussion with Sarama and Dr. Michael Jackson of the Ruby Lake Lagoon Society will follow the screening. Admission is by donation. Reservations can be made at the EarthFair Store, 604-883-9006. 

Playback returns to the stage at the Madeira Park Legion the same day, Saturday, Aug. 26. Tickets are $10 for members, $12.50 for non-members, available at the Legion and Harbour Insurance. 

The biggest fundraiser of the year for the BCSPCA, Paws For a Cause, Walk to Fight Animal Cruelty, takes place Sunday, Sept. 10 at Hackett Park. Register today at SPCA.BC.CA/WALK or 1-800-665-1868.
