This Friday, June 9, the School of Music Coffee House will welcome to the stage Back Porch Reunion, Cajun group; Nikki and Friends, ukulele band; and Allan Nenhuis, vocal with guitar. Come and enjoy great local musicians, delicious desserts and wonderful ambience in this waterfront cabaret setting. $10 suggested donation at the door. Doors open at 7 p.m. music at 7:30 p.m.

The Pender Harbour Garden Club meeting is Monday, June 12 at the School of Music at 1 p.m. Jennifer Lipka, former garden advisor with West Coast Seeds and who is also involved with bee conservation projects in the Lower Mainland and presently working on her Environmental and Sustainability degree at UBC, will share her wealth of knowledge and experience with all in attendance.  $5 drop in or $15 for an annual membership.

Seniors Initiative activities this week include walking exercises Tuesday 10:30 to 11 a.m.,and carpet bowling Wednesday 1 to 3 p.m. Harbourside Friendship welcomes Haida Bolton presenting Seven Wonders of Ethiopia. Lunch will be served at noon. On Friday have a seat for chair yoga with Carol Logtenberg 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

All activities are at the Pender Harbour Community Hall for a drop-in fee of $3 (except Harbourside Friendship).

July 8 and 9 are Pender Harbour Days, where your organization has a great opportunity to show all that you do for our community as part of the Community Organizations Showcase. Please register by June 25 at www.penderharbouradvisorycouncil.com. You can participate on one or both days. Set up by 9:45 a.m. and take down starts at 2 p.m.

Registration is now open for the biggest fundraising event of the year for the BCSPCA and our local branch: Paws for a Cause. See spca.bc.ca/walk. Please come Sunday, Sept. 10 to Hackett Park and help take a step forward in fighting animal cruelty. Stay tuned for the Pender Harbour fundraiser prior to the event. In the meantime, you can donate your refundables at GRIPS to the Sunshine Coast BCSPCA.
