Tuesday May 23, 10 a.m. at the School of Music, Haida Bolton, B.C.’s first Certified Forest Therapy Guide invites you to experience the forest with a variety of sensory invitations. Although hiking in the woods and going on a nature interpretive walk are beneficial experiences, forest therapy is not either of these. It is unique. It is inspiring. It’s like a vacation at the spa. Let the forest be your therapist.

Tickets are available now for the Women’s Connection spring buffet luncheon Tuesday, June 6 at the Painted Boat, with piano stylings by Ken Johnson ($30 for members, $35 for non-members).

The Pender Harbour Living Heritage Society has received a Canada Summer Jobs grant to hire a student at Sarah Wray Heritage Centre. They hope to have the historic one-room schoolhouse open for visitors five days a week with exhibits of historic artifacts and information on view, and are looking for a student to act as host at the site, someone who enjoys meeting the public and providing information in response to their questions. See www.penderharbourheritage.ca for details.

The Pender Harbour and Egmont Bursary Society presents a bursary to a student of PHSS annually. Donations support this cause and you can help by contributing to the collection jars at IGA and Petro Canada or by calling 604-883-9205. Tax receipts are issued for amounts of $10 and more.

The Pender Harbour Choir celebrates the 150th birthday of our country with their concert Shades of Summer Light, A Canadian Tribute. The program, conducted by Kenneth Norman Johnson and accompanied by David Poon, features a variety of Canadian music, including well-known folk songs, songs written and made popular by Canadian artists, and a selection of beautiful new works by Canadian composers. The evening starts with a welcome reception followed by the concert program. Join the choir for Shades of Summer Light in the beautiful setting of the Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden in West Sechelt, Saturday May 27, and in the historic School of Music in Pender Harbour Sunday, May 28.
