Pender Harbour & Egmont

This Friday, May 12, the Pender Harbour Music Society Coffee House welcomes to the stage Robin Atchison and Giles Nelson, original vocals with guitar and harmonica; Reflections, women’s vocal ensemble; and Paula Seward, vocals with piano. Doors open at 7 p.m., music at 7:30 p.m. at the School of Music. Goodies and coffee will be for sale; $10 suggested donation at the door.

Quiz Night at the Legion this Friday will be a fundraiser for the Pender Harbour Golf Course starting at 7:30 p.m. Come early if you want to dine as the kitchen closes at 7 p.m.

This Saturday, May 13, at the Egmont Community Hall the Egmont Community Club will host their annual Mother’s Day Tea. Please bring the lovely women in your life to celebrate Mother’s Day.

The Pender Harbour Wildlife Society presents Michelle Evelyn on Tuesday May 16 at 7 p.m. at the Pender Harbour Secondary School. Evelyn will describe work by the Sunshine Coast Wildlife Project in the fascinating Clowhom watershed, located at the head of Salmon Inlet, 32 km northwest of Sechelt. Hear all about nesting screech owls, breeding toads, cutting edge environmental DNA, bat acoustic surveys and more. This presentation is free and open to everyone. Home baked goodies will be served. The Pender Harbour Choir celebrates the 150th birthday of our country with their concert Shades of Summer Light, a Canadian tribute. The program, conducted by Kenneth Norman Johnson and accompanied by David Poon, features a variety of Canadian music, including well-known folk songs, songs written and made popular by Canadian artists, and a selection of beautiful new works by Canadian composers.

The evening starts with a welcome reception followed by the concert program. Please join the choir for Shades of Summer Light in the beautiful setting of the Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden in West Sechelt, Saturday, May 27, and at the historic School of Music in Pender Harbour, Sunday, May 28. Tickets for $20 are available at EarthFair Store, Sechelt Visitor Centre and from choir members.
