At their second gathering of the month, the Pender Harbour Women’s Connection presents Gail Wilen, Sunshine Coast member of Grandmothers and Grandothers this Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 10 a.m. at the School of Music. In 2016, Wilen visited Africa, as part of the Grandmothers Campaign under the auspices of Stephen Lewis Foundation. Her inspirational presentation tells of the work of this incredible group. African grandmothers are central to the life of their communities. With almost no support they have stepped forward to care for millions of children orphaned by AIDS, often 10 to 15 in one household. They display astonishing reserves of love, courage and emotional resilience, even while grieving the loss of their own adult children. Come participate and share interesting, fun and fabulous activities.
