The Pender Harbour Music Society Coffee House – this Friday, Feb. 10 – welcomes back popular guitarist Bonar Harris and also features local singer Tamara Goble. FLAIR in Pender Harbour is this Saturday, Feb. 11 at 10 a.m. at the Activity Centre in Lily Lake Village. Guest speaker Haida Bolton will talk on Shinrin-Yoku forest therapy studied by scientists since the 1980s. Health benefits include lowering blood pressure, boosted immune system, increased cancer-fighting proteins (natural killer cells), reduced hormones and improved mental health. Scientists have discovered that two hours of forest therapy can increase the number of natural killer cells by 40 per cent and it will remain boosted for a week. Chicago Club Night is also Feb. 11 at Sarah Wray Hall. This great evening, a fundraiser for Pender Harbour Chamber of Commerce, includes a three-course dinner by Oui Cook, entertainment by Ken and Baby G with special guests, a 50/50 draw, silent auction and draw prizes. All women in the Harbour are welcome to attend P.H. Women’s Connection gatherings on the second and fourth Tuesdays of most months. Wear red on Feb. 14 for the Women’s Connection Valentine’s Day and the group’s 18th birthday celebration, starting at 10 a.m. at the School of Music. There will be interactive games, fun and fellowship for this special annual event. And there will be cake, too – it’s a party!

Seniors Initiative has all the favourite activities for the week starting with the origami challenge, Monday 9:30 a.m. at Mad Park Bistro, walking exercises on Tuesday 10:30 a.m., and carpet bowling on Wednesday 1 to 3 p.m. On Thursday, Harbourside Friendship welcomes guest speaker Kathleen Thomas, RN, geriatric mental health nurse. Lunch is served at noon for $10. Chair yoga is Friday at 10:30 a.m.

The Pender Harbour Advisory Council will hold its fourth annual Community Organizations Forum on Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 7 p.m. at the School of Music. Agenda items include the Community Organizations Showcase for 2017, possible projects of mutual interest such as insurance for events and awards for volunteerism in the community. All Pender Harbour organizations are urged to attend.

The Open Door Group is available for appointments at the Community School on Feb. 16 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call 604-885-3351 to book an appointment. The Pender Harbour Community School invites you to their Open House on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Come find out what’s happening at the school, enjoy snacks, and connect with the people who provide ongoing programs in our community.

Bingo returns Feb. 16 at the Hall, weather permitting. Doors open at 6 p.m., early bird at 6:30 p.m., regular game at 7 p.m. Welcome back everyone, and bring a friend!

In a two-day tour de force, violinist extraordinaire Corey Cervovsek returns to Pender Harbour, accompanied by Londoner Adrian Brendel, considered to be one of the finest cellists of his generation, and internationally-distinguished pianist Michelle Mares. A different program each day will feature challenging masterworks by Mozart, Beethoven, Franck, Ravel, Debussy and Chopin. Dates are Feb. 25 and 26.
