Seniors Initiative this week starts off with Origami Challenge, Monday 9:30 a.m. at Mad Park Bistro. Come enjoy a cup of coffee or tea and learn the art of folding a paper crane for peace and prosperity and contribute to the goal of making 1,000 cranes. Activities at the Hall include Tuesday walking, an easy exercise program at 10:30 to 11 a.m. Carpet bowling is Wednesday 1 to 3 p.m. Harbourside Friendship starts at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. Dilys Williams will speak on dog rescue organizations and fostering and also the Sunshine Coast BCSPCA new resource centre project. Lunch is served at noon. Friday chair yoga is 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

The following week, on Monday, Feb. 6, join the Seniors Initiative group for lunch at the Mad Park Bistro at 11:30 a.m. Come early and fold a crane or two. Cost is what you order from the menu.

Next Sunday, Feb. 5, is Super Bowl and the party is at the Pender Harbour Legion. Come and enjoy the game on the 10-foot screen, as well as chili, hot dogs, fun and more games.

Save the date, Saturday, Feb. 25, for the BCSPCA National Cupcake Day party at downtown Madeira Park, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There is also a fantastic concert in the evening with Joe Stanton, Simon Paradis and the High Bar Gang at Raven’s Cry Theatre. Tickets for $25 are on sale now at EarthFair Store (604-883-9006).
