Help keep our roads and woods trash free. Register for the Fall Trash Bash, taking place tomorrow (Sept. 24) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at penderharbouradvisorycouncil.com.
This event will focus on cleaning up illegal dumpsites from parks, hiking trails and the ocean, as well as clearing trash from our roads and shores.

Volunteers are asked to meet as early as 9:30 at Lions Park at 13776 Sunshine Coast Hwy. or at the Egmont Community Hall. Lunch for both groups is at Lions Park about 1 pm. Participants are urged to wear sturdy footwear, and bring gloves and safety vests, if they have them. Thanks to the Sunshine Coast Regional District, Sunshine Coast Credit Union and the Rotary Club of Pender Harbour for their support of this event.
Saturday, Sept. 24 is also the day for a very important fundraiser in Egmont. Starting at 6 p.m. come out and enjoy an all ages licensed dinner, dance and silent auction at the Egmont Community Hall. All proceeds will go to a local family whose baby requires heart surgery at Children’s Hospital. The family will need to leave home and their jobs for extended periods of time. The Garden Club will meet Monday, Oct. 3 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the School of Music. Mark Nyberg, a retired gardener from North Vancouver City Works, now living in Madeira Park, will speak about bulb timing and planting to get a great display. Also, Sharon Halford will talk to us about helping out with hospice. Coffee, tea and goodies to follow. Everyone is welcome. $5 drop in or $15 annual membership.
