The Harbour Gallery will be open Saturday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and during the evening shows at the School of Music.

Two amazing women, Jean Pate (from Pender Harbour) and Carol Bowman, have created a precious place of great inspiration for women on the Coast facing cancer: Flair on the Coast. Join them this Saturday, Sept. 19, 10 a.m. to noon at the Rockwood Centre for coffee, chat and some laughter. Guest speaker Andre will talk about the benefits of yoga and how it helps keep aches and pains at bay.

Come to the Legion Saturday afternoon for your chance to Pull the Ace, now in week six, and win goodies at the meat draw. The same evening, celebrate the end of summer with a burger barbecue and live music with Skinny Jimmy and The Preachers, for just $10. The Legion is open Wednesday through Sunday, soup and sandwich Wednesdays and Thursdays, barbecue Wednesday nights, lunch and dinner specials on Friday. Call 604-883-2235 for more information.

The Pender Harbour Reading Centre board is pleased to announce that the trial project extending opening hours over the summer was successful. The extended hours will continue indefinitely: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Seniors Initiative Group is always on the go; they have these activities scheduled for the week: The walk on Tuesday, Sept 22, will start off from the Merrill Crescent mail boxes. Wednesday, carpet bowling rolls at 1 p.m. at the Hall for $3. Meet our political candidates Thursday, Sept. 24, at Harbourside Friendships. Marlene has all the details at 604-883-9900.

The Aquatic and Fitness Centre is open for fall with drop-in fitness and swim sessions. The inaugural cardboard boat building challenge will be held on Tuesday, Sept 22, from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Teams of four will be given cardboard and duct tape to design a pool-worthy craft that at least one team member will then race to see who makes a length of the pool.

Zumba is back, Thursdays 5 to 6 p.m. Call the Fitness Centre to register.

Healthy New Start is a program for those with chronic health issues that will begin on Monday, Sept. 28 and run Mondays and Wednesdays from 1 to 2 p.m. Classes will be managed by both a certified fitness specialist and a health care nurse.
