Pender Harbour & Egmont

Madeira Market is back!  Come to the Madeira Market every Friday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. throughout the summer under the shady trees beside Triple BBB Burgers. You will find a bounty of local produce, baking, preserves, art, jewels and beautifully crafted treasures, new and different each week, always at such amazing prices.

Chair yoga is on Fridays at the P.H. Community Hall, 10 to 11 a.m. and then walking 11 a.m. to noon.

The Annual Egmont Seafood Dinner is on Saturday, July 4 at the community hall in Egmont.  Doors open at 5 p.m. and dinner is at 6 p.m.  Tickets are $15 per person.  Skinny Jimmy is scheduled to entertain, and the raffle will be drawn (cedar bark hat, wool shawl, elk hide drum). Put your best foot forward and take in the magnificent beauty of our Coast Mondays and Wednesdays with the Pender Harbour Hiking Club. Call 604-883-2930 to join them.

Families and visitors are invited to summer family drop in sports nights in Madeira Park.  Come play outdoor volleyball or basketball on Monday nights at the MPES field from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Bring a picnic or just sit and enjoy watching. Younger kids can play at the park or in the playground. Let’s make this a great weekly event!

Summer camp for ages five to 12 years runs July 6 to 10 and July 13 to 17, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily at the P.H. Aquatic and Fitness Centre. Weekly, daily and family rates are available. Sign up now for this great summer camp full of games, swimming, wilderness survival, arts and crafts, hiking and more.  Come for a week at a time, or drop in.  Camp supervisor is Carol Goulette. The Harbour Gallery in Madeira Park members will be exhibiting their summer show.  The gallery will be open July 1 to August 31 daily from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

Carpet bowling happens at the community hall Thursdays from 1 to 3 p.m.

The Friday, July 10, the School of Music Coffee House starts at 8 p.m. and will feature four local professional musicians: Kathrina Bishop, Mark Brezer, Kenneth Norman Johnson and Mark Vance. Come out and take in some great music at our waterfront theatre. Coffee, tea and desserts available.

Pender Harbour Days are July 10 to 12, an annual celebration of our marine heritage with historical boats, land-based heritage displays, sailing competitions over the weekend, combined with an arts fair and entertainment. For information on scheduled events, see www.penderharbour.ca

Celebrate Legion Week and Pender Harbour Days July 11, 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Madeira Park Legion. Enjoy live music from Skinny Jimmy and The Preachers and dine on delicious burgers and salad for $10. Egmont and District Fire Department are holding a garage sale on July 25 and 26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to raise money for a new compressed air foam fire pump. Donations of viable sale items (or cash) will be gratefully accepted. The pump will greatly enhance the ability to fight fires in hard to reach situations. Donations can be dropped with Kal Helyar at 604-740-1400, or Annette Sheppard at 604-741-7250.
