Pender Harbour & Egmont

Chair yoga is on Fridays at the P.H. Community Hall, 10 to 11 a.m. and then walking 11 a.m. to noon.

Pender Harbour Music Society’s Coffee House is at the School of Music Friday, June 12.  Doors open at 7 p.m. Music starts at 7:30 with Java Jazz, Ken Dalgleish, Ispira and Renee Harper, and Axel Loitz. The Celebration for Seniors is coming up on Monday, June 15 at the Community Hall. Doors open at 10:30 a.m., with door prizes, photo booth, music by Ken Johnson and a free lunch. All welcome.

Volleyball is at MPES outdoor court Mondays 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.  All ages and levels welcome for a $3 drop-in fee.

The P.H. Walking Club will meet at the mailboxes at Warnock Road and Francis Peninsula, 10:30 a.m. on June 16.

The Ukulele Group will be performing a recital on Tuesday, June 16 at 7 p.m. at the School of Music.

Many thanks to all who donated items and labour to make the Legion’s garage sale a record-breaking success this past Saturday.

Take a break from the heat. Enjoy wings and fish and chips special after 4 p.m. Wednesdays in cool air-conditioned comfort at the Legion. Call 604-883-2235 for membership.

Carpet bowling happens at the Community Hall on Thursdays from 1 to 3 p.m.

Join the Harbourside Friendship this Thursday, June 18 at 10:30 a.m. for armchair travels. Pia Sillem will present slides on a recent trip to Cuba. A $10 lunch will follow at the P.H. Community Hall. For more information, call Cathy at 604-885-1365. 

Our June 18 Horse Poop Soup Loop Ramble will begin on Menacher Road (just north of GRIPS). Meet about one km up Menacher at 9 a.m. $5 drop-in. Please call PHAFC if you need more details: 604-885-6866.

Summer day camp for ages five to 12 years runs July 6 to 10 and July 13 to 17, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., a partnership program between the P.H. Aquatic and Fitness Centre and P.H. Community School. A big thank you to everyone who attended the first open mike and potluck afternoon last Sunday at the Community Hall. All are encouraged to share again on Sunday, July 12 and Aug. 30 from 2 to 6 p.m. Potluck and a suggested $2 donation for admission. Come out, support the community and mentor youth with music, food and fun.

The Pender Harbour Community Club Youth Group is cancelled for the month of June and will run the last two Fridays of the month in July and August.

Events for younger youth from 3 to 5 p.m., drop-in from 5 to 7 p.m., and older youth from 7 to 10 p.m. Call Tess at 604-883-0024.

Egmont and District Volunteer Fire Department is holding a garage sale on July 25 and 26 from 9 to 3 p.m. to raise money for a new compressed air foam fire pump. Donations of viable sale items will be gratefully accepted (tools and parts are best), as well as monetary donations. The CAF pump will greatly enhance the ability to fight fires in hard to reach situations. Donations can be dropped with Kal Helyar at 604-740-1400, or Annette Sheppard at 604-741-7250.
