I have always needed help with my tax preparation. If you too need help with your income tax preparation, the Volunteer Income Tax Program will be available March 1 to April 30 in Pender Harbour. This is a free service for eligible clients. Three options are available: walk-in clinics at the community school and health centre, drop off, same locations, and by appointment. For an appointment phone Harry at 604-741-5132. I always enjoy my annual appointment with Harry.

Helga Grout, leader of our much-loved HUGS Ukulele group reached for a star and captured one, the world’s most experienced and sought-after ukulele teacher, Peter Luongo, and brought him to Pender Harbour this past weekend for a two-day workshop. Helga asked me to be the “kitchen fairy” to assist with food etc. I was honoured. Participants came from all over the Coast. Peter taught with charismatic energy, stimulating, inspiring, invigorating, infused with upbeat humour and warmth. I was gobsmacked, not only by the playing, but the layered harmonies of the choir of students that developed from Peter’s teaching. The School of Music filled and overflowed with beautiful music, professional top-drawer performances. I had goosebumps! For two days, I was enveloped in music and friendship – two of life’s greatest pleasures. Thank you, Helga. Yes, my friends, I have bought my first ukulele.
