Harbour-Egmont Highlights: Pender Harbour Blues Fest, Egmont Day are this weekend

Rest up during the week, as next weekend the live musical treats return. Friday, June 10, at the Pender Harbour School of Music Coffee House, the outstanding performers taking to the stage will be Jim Foster, Katrina Bishop and Matt Richards. You do not want to miss this outstanding evening of music. Doors open at 7 p.m. Music at 7:30 p.m. $10 donation at the door. 

The highly anticipated 17th Annual Pender Harbour Blues Festival has arrived in all its musical glory. Three days of spectacular live music in the Harbour and at the Back Eddy in Egmont starts today, Friday, June 3.  

Hosted by the not-for-profit Pender Harbour Blues Society, all the details and tickets for this three-day extravaganza can be found on the website penderharbourbluesfestival.com. The fabulous free jam where all the festivals stars align “Blues in the Park” is Saturday, noon to 4 p.m. Buy your lucky raffle tickets to win fantastic prizes: CDs of the performers as well as PH Blues merchandise – perfect souvenirs of this great event. 

Saturday is the big celebration day up the highway at Egmont Days, sponsored by the Egmont Community Club. This annual festival has non-stop family fun activities starting with the kid’s fishing derby at 8:30 a.m. The parade is at 11 a.m. followed by the Cake Walk, Dunk Tank, Zodiac Rides, games, and prizes and more. Must say, the poster for this special event is a masterpiece created by Anna Comfort O’Keeffe.

June 11, Saturday Night Western Dance Party rides into town featuring Blue Western; Mike Evans, Archie MacLean, Warren Allan, and Garth Oliver Bowen. Polish up your cowboy boots, practice your two-step and come on down to the Legion for 7 p.m. No cover charge. Vaccine passport required. 

The Bargain Barn has posted its new hours starting off in June to include, Yes!!! Fridays! Hours of operation are Wednesdays and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Fridays 12:30 to 3:30 pm. Cash only for purchases please.
