Harbour-Egmont Highlights: Only three shopping days left at Bargain Barn

And don’t miss ‘A Merry Christmas Faire’ this Saturday

Bargain Barn is open Dec 11, 15 and 18 and then closed until the new year.

‘A Merry Christmas Faire’ is this Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Hall will be full of good cheer, fabulous artisan vendors, community group exhibits, raffles, silent auction and wonderful live music. The multi-talented Rick Kobus, the lovely duo of Suzanne & Tim and HUGS! will perform. This is your chance to finish your Christmas shopping and buy beautiful creations for you and your home. Hosted by the Pender Harbour Community Club, purchase or renew memberships for 2022: $5 single and $10 for family.

Harbour Gallery will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and it will have a display at the Faire.

Another holiday happening at the Hall is the annual Christmas Bingo Thursday, Dec. 16. Sunny Charbonneau, the long-time coordinator extraordinaire has once again prepared a special evening. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Bingo starts at 6:30 p.m. Please bring a non-perishable item for the food bank. For more fun and games there will be an optional, ticketed gift exchange. Vaccination passport and masks required for all events at the Hall.

Tonight, Friday, Dec. 10 at The Legion #112, the fabulous Patricia Burnett will entertain you with her original and cover songs. Sunday, Dec. 12, “brunch” 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. followed by live music with Peter Van Trio 2 to 5 p.m. There’s a $5 cover charge at the door.

Saturday, Dec. 18 is the date for the popular Legion #112 Ham, Turkey Draw, Basket Raffle & Auction Fundraiser. The call is out for donations of baskets and items for baskets such as gift cards and non-perishable items. Please drop off your completed basket with a list of contents and approximate value before or on Dec. 17. Individual items, please drop off today, Dec. 10. Funds raised go to school breakfast programs, scholarships, bursaries, and community activities. The Legion is open Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. There are only three more shopping days at the Bargain Barn this year: Dec 11, 15 and 18 – 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The last day for donations is Dec. 17. The amazing hardworking, dedicated, volunteers will have a well-deserved time off until the donation reopening Jan. 28 from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The store is reopening Feb. 2. Thank you to all of you!

 A special holiday event for us lucky folks around Harbour: the 57th annual Christmas Boat Parade sets sail Dec. 18 off Millennium Park at 6 p.m.

The “Spreading Kindness Fundraiser” is well under way. Donations go toward assisting youth and families throughout the year by supporting the Pender Harbour Community School and Families Support Program. Donors give extra help to those in need at Christmastime. This year the needs have increased. Donations are distributed through our PH Food Bank, PH Lions Club, Egmont Lions and Egmont Community Club.
