Tonight, Friday, July 14, the Coffee House at the School of Music has three outstanding entertainers from the Sunshine Coast, Steve Jeffrey, Cat Mac, and Donald Glenn, performing at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m. $10 suggested donation at the door. Desserts, coffee, and tea available. 

The Pender Harbour Music Society’s new season begins in August. The brochure is available in many locations and the line up is stellar! You can also visit their website for details and ticket purchase. 

Here are gentle reminders about previous posts for events and activities. Nature Camp for kids ages seven to 11 at the Iris and Billy Griffiths Nature Centre, July 10 to Aug. 25. Register at loonfoundation.org/summer-camp-2023 

Summer Reading for children every Thursday in July, plus Aug. 1 and 10 at 10:30 a.m. at the Pender Harbour Reading Centre, Madeira Park, for all children up to 12 years. 

Royal Canadian Legion Branch #112 annual golf tournament, Saturday, July 29, starting at 2 p.m. at the Pender Harbour Golf Club. The playing format is a modified Texas Scramble. Entries are $60 per person which includes golf, prizes, appies and, dinner. Register at the Legion. 

“Blues Concert in Gunboat Bay” with Peter van Deursen and his band, hosted by the Mellquist family from their dock is Saturday, July 29, 4 p.m. start (rain or shine). 

Celebrate the August Long Weekend at the Pender Harbour Days Wooden Boat Festival! This is a fantastic event for all the family hosted by the Pender Harbour Living Heritage Society at Millenium Park at Madeira Park Government wharf. See the full schedule at www.penderharbourdays.ca! Quick snapshot of what is happening: Friday evening: boat parade around Pender Harbour. Saturday: boat viewing and activities at Madeira Park Wharf/Millennium Park. Evening: dinner and dance with Blue Western at the Legion. Sunday: boat viewing, activities and marine tailgate sale. Raffle draws at 2 p.m. 

You could be the new owner of The Loon in PHLHS 2023 canoe raffle! The Loon is an 11.5-foot cedar strip canoe built by local boatbuilder Rick Crook and the 2023 boatbuilding class. Tickets are on sale now at penderharbourheritage.ca/canoe-raffle.html.

For wildlife concerns, contact Coastal Wildlife Rescue, Tammy Trefry 604-399-8502. Please call this number if you have info on the deer, shot with bow and arrows and left to suffer, arrows imbedded, in Garden Bay. Call the RAPP line 1-877-952-RAPP (7277) if you observe poachers or polluters.
