Harbour / Egmont Highlights: Bargain Barn reopening delayed because of COVID-19

Harbourside Friendships, Thursdays drop-in program 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Pender Harbour Community Hall is back in action for the month of February. Bring your own packed lunch as lunch will not be served at this time. First up Feb. 3 and an annual favourite event, creating valentines for the elementary school students.

Seniors Initiative activities for the month of February include Wednesday carpet bowling 1 to 3 p.m., chair yoga, Mondays, and Fridays 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. and a special treat, learn to play Mahjong, Feb. 10 and 17, 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. with instructor Allison Spears. For all activities at the Hall, drop-in is $3. All participants must show proof of vaccination and adhere to current BC Health regulations.

Times are uncertain and worrisome for many of us. With daily updates and changes as COVID marches on constantly reinventing the harm it can do, we all must keep safe and stay healthy. A decision has been made with those priorities in mind that our extremely popular Bargain Barn will remain closed until the end of February, reopening Wednesday, March 2 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The first day for donations will be Friday, Feb. 25 at the Pender Harbour Community Hall 1 to 3:30 p.m. Two large bags of clean, new, or gently used items per person are allowed. Visit the bargainbarn@weebly.com for all their info. Do you have a minimum of a spare three hours a month? Why not join the team of wonderful Bargain Barn volunteers? Do not suffer shopping withdrawal, visit the the Barn’s eBay store, and make offers on beautiful treasures that could be yours!

Storybook Stroll in Madeira Park is almost complete. Drop off your completed entry form by Jan. 30 to win a prize at the Pender Harbour Community School.
