If you walk the trails in the Halfmoon Bay area, you could help with spring maintenance by taking your hand clippers along to trim the salal, ferns and other plants off the trails. If you are interested in helping maintaining Halfmoon Bay trails, contact [email protected].
Sunshine Coast Healthcare Auxiliary, Halfmoon Bay branch’s next meeting is the June wind-up lunch on Monday, June 12, at Coopers Green. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased from Shelley Grainger at 604-885-7338.
June 17 is a dance at Coopers Green Hall with Papa Greg and the Chillin’ Dylans. Doors open at 7 p.m. with downbeat at 7:30 p.m. Brought to you by Halfmoon Bay Community Association. Tickets are now on sale at Welcome Woods Market and Halfmoon Bay General Store.
The community association has over 300 members and is still growing; membership is free. They have a dedicated board of directors who enjoy the camaraderie and the fun involved in putting on functions. Their growth has created a need for more volunteers, and in particular they are looking for a membership director. If you have good computer skills and can volunteer approximately one hour a week, they would love to talk to you. Contact Terry Knight, president, at [email protected] or Toni Morris, vice-president, at [email protected].
Not in My Backyard: the Halfmoon Bay Citizens Association has arranged for Jennifer Grenz, PhD student in plant sciences and invasive species specialist, to give a free information session about the dangers of knotweed invasions – how to identify it, and what we can do about it.
Grenz will be at Sechelt Indian Band Hall June 22 5 to 7 p.m. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and coffee and tea will be served. This session will be for everyone, with particular interest to property owners, tenants, gardeners, machine operators, land managers, realtors and environmentalists.
To have your say at the Bay, contact me before 5 p.m. Monday at [email protected] or 604-885-5034.
