Halfmoon Happenings

Halfmoon Bay

Happy St. Patrick’s Day. The luck of the Irish and community support is needed as fundraising for the new community hall at Coopers Green begins this weekend with a focus on corporate sponsors. If you would like to know a little more about the project, Halfmoon Bay Community Association (HBCoA) has details on its new website at www.hmbcommunity.org. Residents who would like to get involved can contact Don Cunliffe at [email protected].

Pickleball fans, there will be no pickleball March 15 or March 22 as the school is closed for spring break. It will return March 29 to the Community School gym, Northwood Road.

The Halfmoon Bay Country Fair will be held on July 8 and 9 this summer and the theme will be “Superheroes.” Volunteers who would like to help should contact Toni Morris at [email protected].

HBCoA presents Mark Crissinger’s CD Release Tour at Coopers Green Hall April 7. Doors open at 7 p.m., show starts at 7:30.

We are moving into “Broom Busting” season. Mary Beth Knechtel informed me of an informative app – www.reportaweedbc.ca. This mobile Report-a-Weed BC app is available free of charge for iPhone and Android platforms. It lets you report weed sightings anywhere in B.C., in a few simple steps. Your report will go to a B.C. invasive plant specialist, who will coordinate follow-up activities with the appropriate local authorities.  There will be an announcement of the date for volunteers who will be helping “Broom Busting” weekend.

To have your say at the bay, contact me before 5 p.m. Monday at [email protected] or 604-885-5034.
