A must-see on Oct. 31 is the pumpkin trail organized by the community school. It’s easy to help; carve a pumpkin and drop it off anywhere along the forested walking trail between Hart and Lohn Road on Halloween after 4 p.m. A volunteer will light them up at 6 p.m. This is a fun tradition that also makes the trail safer. Contact Wendy at [email protected] for more details.
The Halfmoon Bay Reading Centre is a volunteer-run initiative to connect Halfmoon Bay residents with library services. You can order books online to pick up and drop off at Halfmoon Bay School library, every second Wednesday from 4 to 5 p.m.
There also will be a used book sale to fundraise for the centre. Donated books are welcome. For more information, call the Halfmoon Bay Information and Referral Centre at 604-551-8461 or email [email protected]
Sunshine Coast Healthcare Auxiliary Halfmoon Bay Branch will have their meeting at Coopers Green Nov. 9 at 9:45 a.m. Everyone is welcome. Also the Auxiliary’s bake, plant and craft sale will be in Trail Bay Mall Nov. 28. Apple pies can be pre-ordered at the Thrift Store in Sechelt.
Drop in and play pickleball, Wednesdays at the Halfmoon Bay Community School gym, Northwood Road, starting at 7 p.m. for registration. Equipment (racquets and balls) is provided. For more information email [email protected], or Tim Dayton [email protected]
Katie Angermeyer wishes to thank all the volunteers who made the Apple Festival happen. It was a lot of work, but it did get done magically. Thanks to Terry ‘Coyote’ Aleck, Jamie Dixon, and Christine McLellan for the opening drumming and prayer song; to the violin and cello students who charmed us with their music; to the Cornpones who led a sing-along; and to the vendors. Donations have gone to Halfmoon Bay Child Care Society.
The first annual Halfmoon Bay Business and Entrepreneur Show was a great success with 75 to 100 people turning out for the event. Well done, Wendy Pearson, who put in the time to make it happen.
To have your say at the bay, contact me before 5 p.m. Monday at [email protected] or 604-885-5034.
