The Backroad Trash Bash was a success again this year. In total, 42 volunteers collected six tonnes of material from the back roads and forests in Halfmoon Bay and Sechelt, including household garbage, tires, sofas, electronic waste, construction waste and scrap metal. A big thank you to all the volunteers who participated from Halfmoon Bay and other communities on the Coast! The Halfmoon Bay Childcare Centre’s Golf Tournament, as well as the Halfmoon Bay Community Association’s Golf Tournament have both been cancelled.

Give your support to the HMB Volunteer Fire Department’s fundraiser 10k walk or run. They are looking forward to a great run this year with an emphasis on families and fun. The route goes from Halfmoon Bay Fire Department Hall #2 to Hall #1. Registration is Saturday, Sept. 26 at 8 a.m. Race starts at 9 a.m. for walkers and 10 a.m. for runners. Oct. 17 and 18 is Apple Festival weekend. Apples are ripening now, so if you have any to share with the big copper kettle, they will be put to good use. Also on the want list is cured maple firewood that goes under the big kettle. The Halfmoon Bay Trade Show has been officially moved to Saturday, Oct. 24 at the HMB School Gym. All types of businesses in Halfmoon Bay are invited to showcase their goods and services, do demonstrations, put out samples, give out flyers, businesses cards and coupons.
