Hi everyone! Hope you had a wonderful week. More wind and lots of rain to deal with but at least the temperature has remained somewhat mild. Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday, Nov. 7 at 2 a.m., so don’t forget to turn your clocks back one hour before going to bed on Saturday night.
The Pumpkin Trail in Welcome Woods was a HUGE success on Halloween night. Wendy White, one of the organizers and many volunteers, advised, “all who attended this year said it was the ‘best one ever’ with so many amazing carved pumpkins on the trail.” Along with some hanging ghosts in the trees and other scary ghoulish decorations, it was a feast for the eyes and senses. The Halfmoon Bay Community Association setup a tent at the trail entrance/exit and provided hot apple cider, which was very welcome on a chilly night. Resident Jackie S. commented, “We had the greatest time with our little grandson. Just wonderful! Both the HBCoA and the local residents’ fabulous decorated homes put on the most Spooktacular Halloween ever! Thanks so much to everyone!” The next day, volunteers collected 95 pumpkins which were taken to a farm in Gibsons where some very happy ‘piggies’ will enjoy the orange morsels. The community really came together and everyone had a wonderful time. Salish Soils is also accepting your pumpkins for composting. Thank you to all the volunteers and talented pumpkin carvers who helped make this another successful event in our little community!
