Habitat’s gala set for Nov. 21

Starry Harvest Night

On Saturday, Nov. 21 Habitat for Humanity Sunshine Coast will be holding its annual harvest gala at the Sunshine Coast Golf & Country Club.

It is anticipated that this year’s event will build upon previous years’ offerings of five hand-selected wines paired with a five star gourmet menu. In addition, the Sunshine Coast community has, once again, shown its generosity by donating thousands of dollars in both silent and live auction items to the Habitat event. On offer this year are several overnight stays at charming venues, the services of both a landscape architect and an interior decorator, upscale gift packages, art and landscape materials. There will also be one-of-a-kind items such as an award-winning magnum of wine from one of B.C.’s prime wineries and an opportunity to learn to carve a bear at an art gallery in Whistler.

The proceeds from the event all go towards building more homes for hard-working young families here on the Coast. Currently Habitat Sunshine Coast is building four new family units. All of the housing is financed through the donations of funding, materials and volunteer time. There is no government funding involved. Habitat counts on local generosity in order to sell decent affordable housing for families who work hard to pay their bills but never have enough left over at the end of the month to save for a down payment.

The 5th Annual Starry Harvest Night Gala is the biggest fundraiser Habitat for Humanity Sunshine Coast holds each year. Community attendance at the gala is a crucial element in the outcome of the funds raised. Tickets can be bought at the ReStore or by calling 604-885-6773 to reserve. It is a great opportunity to come out for a Starry Harvest Night.
