Hall happenings are heating up with new local production company NothingProductions.Live jumping in to the fray. Saturday, May 21 is time to get yer boogie shoes on as electro dance party BEHAVE! kicks off a series of monthly events. A “Shagadelic” themed event featuring DJs Smoothie, Lefty, FunkDealer and !SiEGE, with local food and brewery offerings by some of the best the Sunshine Coast has to offer (101 Brewery, Bruinwood, Persephone, and Provisions Bistro). Light, sound, and visuals by CJ. Coastal Rides shuttle service available with tickets bought through EventBrite. 8 p.m. to 3 a.m.! 

RCCA members are urged to come to the hall Tuesday May 24 at 7 p.m. for the special general meeting, details in an email sent to members May 3. 

At the hall next Saturday, May 28, it’s an all-ages fundraiser for the Recovery Centre, info next week.

The Masons are holding an event at their hall on the holiday Monday, May 23. Mount Elphinstone Lodge #130 will be dishing up a family barbecue and info on the Masonic Society from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., bring your appetite for knowledge...and burgers! 

With all the liquid sunshine falling from above, it’s a challenge to keep your youngins occupied on a dreary Saturday. Our beautiful library may be just the ticket, with the carefully chosen selection of books that children love and every month there are new ones added: books for beginners and junior fiction for older kids, including graphic novels. Open Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and after school too, Tuesday to Thursday 2 to 6 p.m. 

…Onto the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 219. Tickets for all events at robertscreeklegion.com. If you don’t already have them by the day of the show, tickets may be nabbed at the door, space depending. The Georgia Fats will lay it on thick at the Roberts Creek Legion Friday, May 20. To warm you up, David Roche will inspire via your funny bone! 7 p.m. 

Saturday May 21 is on again/off again Live Hip-hop with INKSPILL, Alex Cruz, Mickey O’Brien, Waheed, Dlopez and Malik feat. Lavell. There’s a $20 cover. Doors at 9 p.m. Best confirm this one on your own.  

Thursday Night is Jazz night. This week is Anagram Trio, Graham Ord, sax and flute, Anna Lumiere, keys and voice and John Rule on drums (happy belated birthday, John!) at 7 p.m.    

With Dean heading up the kitchen (open Tuesday to Saturday 5 to 9 p.m.) you must try the new menu: there may be bannock, there will be spinach salad, black bean burger, chicken or beef burgers and new specials every week! When the kitchen is open, the legion is family-friendly! 

Next Friday, May 27, GDBC returns to the 219! It will sell out.
