Mother and daughter team Karen and Cassidy operate one of the many “Heart” establishments dedicated to the bodies and minds of Creekers: Roberts Creek Well Being, a.k.a., the Health Food Store. Employing five and featuring organic produce, groceries, body care, supplements and vitamins, and more, they proudly continue the 20+ year tradition of bringing healthy choices to this beautiful community in this location.

By empowering patients in their own health through education to unlock healing potential, Julie at Sage Mountain Acupuncture treats a wide variety of health concerns like pain, sports injury recovery, endurance, digestion, immune disorders, stress, addictions, insomnia, PMS, fertility, and prevention. All treatments are one-on-one. Practicing on the Sunshine Coast since 2008, 604-865-0468 and sagemountainacu.com to book.

In the Heart of the Creek since 1987, Jenna and Jennifer have their practice at Creek Massage to the point where they have a full roster of clients. You can check back later at creek-massage.ca.

Kalawna, in the Creek for 30 years, managed after 19 months of bureaucracy to acquire a licence to operate Infinity Cannabis Chill-out Joint! It will be retailing cannabis products soon (and blacklight posters, accessories and a far-out light installation that would rival many a teenagers’ bedroom!) And, I have been assured it will be open by 4/20. Tuesday to Sunday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For 19+ only.

In a word: stunning! The prints produced by Shel Neufeld Photography of B.C.’s spectacular wild spaces are, well, in a second word, spectacular! Upstairs on the same level as the Yoga studio, open by appointment only, call/text 604-989-5209. Beautiful cards available there and around the Coast. Web: shelneufeld.com.

Family-owned In Situ Archaeology, founded in 2010 by Kenzie and Ashley, employ 10 to 15 people in projects to preserve the history of First Nations, meet regulatory requirements and contribute to a deeper understanding of the archaeology of B.C. They offer archaeological consultation for forestry, mining, and hydroelectricity, commercial projects, museums and private residential developments: insituconsulting.ca, 604-399-8071.

Cozy and rustic, filled with local art, potted plants and bric-a-brac, the Rusty Hinge Boutique Garden Shop offers no cut flowers and even has 24/7 “Honesty Stand,” plants available for purchase when the shop is closed!  (E-transfer to [email protected], easier on the plants than moving them inside every night). In the Heart since 2016, Rhonda employs two. 604-741-5468.

There’s a lot more to the Gumboot Nation than the Heart of the Creek, next week I look for hidden gems scattered about our beautiful rural location. If you want to shine a light on your home-based business, drop me a line.
