Gumboot Connection

Roberts Creek

This week I wish to dedicate my column to the memory of Ian Thomas, who died suddenly on Friday, March 3. Ian had and made time for everyone, and had a very welcoming personality with a smile to match. Ian was a great supporter of the 6th Roberts Creek Scout Group, serving as our Group Chair, supporting woodcrafts for the youth, and allowing us space to store our gear and equipment. Ian loved to attend the many Scouting camps and events. Ian was also a great supporter of the Roberts Creek Community Association, serving as vice-president, and was a great encourager for all Creek events and businesses.

Many of you will know Ian if you have any connection with the horse world in the Creek. He supported his wife Sarah in her many activities through the stable that she operates. If you ride the local transit, you may well have enjoyed Ian as the driver on your route. Ian did many kindnesses and encouraging acts for many people in the Creek and up and down the Coast. Nothing was ever too much for Ian. My prayers and thoughts go to Sarah and their son Bradley, and their extended family, at this time.

Ian, thank you for everything you did to lighten my load. You touched so many lives, Ian, and you will be missed. Until we meet again, Ian, God’s speed and thanks for being my friend.
