The folks at the library wish to invite all those not yet members to come in and sign up. Membership is free – all that’s required is proof of address and phone number or email. Books can be taken out for three weeks at a time. If there is a book you’d like that they do not have, you just have to put your request in the suggestion box. The library buys new books every month; the latest purchases are The Hidden Life of Trees by Peter Wohlleben, Real Food/Fake Food by Larry Olmsted, Swing Time by Sadie Smith, and Do Not Say We Have Nothing by Madeleine Thien. As well as fiction and non-fiction, there is a great selection of kids’ books. The next book sale is on Saturday, Feb. 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 5 from noon to 2 p.m.
SCRD director Mark Lebbell invites new members to the community (long-time residents are also invited) to drop by the Gumboot Café and introduce yourself, ask questions, and let him know what’s important to you. Catch Lebbell nearly every Saturday morning between 10 a.m. and noon. For more information on what’s happening in our area, check out robertscreekmark.com or email [email protected]
