The Sunshine Coast Lions Club was really in the spirit of the holiday season.
At the November meeting, a donation of $2,000 was made to the Imagination Library program that provides a free book each month to children up to five years of age.
The club continued with a donation at the December meeting to KidSport in the amount of $8,097 to enable children whose families cannot afford to enroll them in sports activities the chance to play.
Wrapping up the year, the Lions held their annual Christmas shopping spree raffle. The winner was drawn on Dec. 17. Realtor Kristy Tosczak purchased the winning ticket but had put the Sechelt food bank as the recipient if she won – a true Christmas surprise as the food bank gets a $700 shopping spree, which Claytons Heritage Market generously added to. The club topped it off with a donation of $510 collected from members at their Christmas party.
