Gibsons Lions Club has announced its first annual Texas Scramble Golf Tournament on July 11 at the Sunshine Coast Golf and Country Club in Roberts Creek.
The game includes prizes for men’s and women’s longest drive and men’s and women’s closest to the pin. For a hole in one at the South Coast Ford Sales pin, the winner will receive a two-year lease on a new Ford F-150 truck. At the Home Hardware pin, a hole in one will win a $3,500 lawn care package. There will be goody bags for golfers and many door prizes given out during the dinner at the country club.
Registration is $100. To register as a golfer, go to the Sunshine Coast Golf and Country Club website (www.sunshinecoastgolf.com). The golf game begins at 1:30 p.m. and the evening will end in time for participants to get the last ferry to Vancouver.
Please register by July 2. All proceeds go to Gibsons charities.
At 6:15 p.m., on July 11, the Great Gibsons Golf Ball Drop will occur at Hole 1. A total of 3,000 numbered golf balls will be hoisted into the air by Airspan Helicopters and dropped onto the course. The ball closest to the pin will give the lucky ticket holder $2,500. Second closest ball means a prize of $1,500 and the third ball closest to the pin nets $500. All proceeds from this fundraiser will go to Sunshine Coast Special Olympics, the school district breakfast program and Camp Squamish for challenged children.
Tickets are available from The Seasoned Kitchen, Laedeli, Sharkey’s Fish and Chips, and The Prancing Pony – or any member of the Gibsons Lions.
