The Fiddlehead Farmers' Market in Upper Gibsons begins its third season on Saturday, June 13, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. behind the curling club.

"As usual, we'll be having live music, fresh veggies, locally produced goods and fun events for kids and families," said market manager Mike Clarke. "I'm also pleased to announce that we will once again be participating in the Farmers' Market nutrition coupon project. This provincial initiative provides dollar-value coupons that participants can redeemed at local participating Farmers' Markets."

According to Clarke, last year this program was a huge success, and both the farmers and the young families who took part were extremely pleased. The local counterparts who will distribute the coupons are the Bellies & Babies program out of Community Services and the Gibsons Health Unit.

More information on the project can be found at: www.bcfarmersmarket.org/ind/fmncp.htm.

Clarke said a consignment table will be set up for local backyard gardeners. "They can bring down all those extra zucchinis and plums, share them with the community, and go home with a bit of extra cash. How easy could it be?" he said.
