The Sunshine Coast is a community passionate about local sustainability, both environmental and social. Farmers’ markets, tiny-home consulting, car co-op, ride-sharing website, not to mention countless locally grown or sourced products, from cider to salt, are just a few of the many examples of Coaster ingenuity and community-minded initiative. But there are still so many great ideas just waiting for their turn to blossom.
This fall, the Gibsons Public Library invites individuals of all ages to “Enter the Dragon’s Den.” Do you have an answer to this question: How can we make the Sunshine Coast a more sustainable community?
If so, submit a one-paragraph pitch to [email protected] by Oct. 2. If your submission is selected, you’ll be invited to present a five-minute pitch to our jury of local sustainability experts on Wednesday, Oct. 24, for a chance to win fantastic prizes and to generate excitement and support for your vision, not only for those in attendance but for our TV audience – the “Enter the Dragon’s Den” contest finale will be broadcast on Coast Cable.
Be sure to tell us how your idea relates to environmental or social sustainability, and how it can be implemented locally.
Big ideas for transforming the status quo are awesome, but small-project ideas are encouraged, too. Whether you’ve got an idea for an awareness campaign about plastic straws, a carpooling system, an environmental art project, a compost co-op, or a longer-term project requiring greater investment, we want to hear about it.
“Enter the Dragon’s Den” is presented in partnership with the Gibsons Public Library and the Gibsons Environmental Enhancement/Sustainability Forum.
