The annual Egmont Day was held June 6.
One of the longest standing traditions on the Coast, Egmont Day started decades ago as May Day back when there was a school in the small community.
After a fishing derby, parade, lunch, games, burger eating contest and a lot more, “we were all worn out by Sunday,” Egmont Community Club treasurer Betty Silvey said. An Egmont elder, Silvey has been part of Egmont Day since it began, 35 or 40 years ago, by her recollection.
