An annual fundraising effort for the Sechelt food bank went out of the public sphere but first responders still managed to collect $3,500 in donations. Employees, family and friends of the RCMP, fire hall and ambulance service in Sechelt donated to the cause. About $1,500 came from the Sechelt Volunteer Fire Department, according to Scott Spain, paramedic unit chief in Sechelt. Normally first responders appear in public spaces to fundraise but had to keep the event internal due to COVID-19. “It’s been a tough year for all the agencies and it really raised spirits to be able to give back,” said Spain.
