Excitement was in the air at the Gibsons Public Market as local ice skaters giddily waited their turn to meet a Canadian champion: Elladj Baldé. The evening of March 10 hosted a meet and greet with the professional figure skater, who is joining Sunshine Coast Skating Club on ice for two performances on Saturday. Young fans hurriedly grabbed pens to ask for Baldé's signature on their programs for the next day's event. For many of the young skaters, the 2023 showcase would be their first, after the pandemic cancelled several years' events.
