CoastMakers.com, a group of do-it-yourselfer-meets-technology enthusiasts on the Sunshine Coast, are pleased to announce the first ever official Sunshine Coast Mini Maker Faire, to be held on Sunday, May 31 from noon to 4 p.m. at Dougall Park in Gibsons.
Expect to find hands-on workshops, demonstrations, brainstorming opportunities, and an amplification of the already top-flight creative culture on the Coast. Visitors will be provided a passport to the exhibits and collect stamps during their stay, and upon completion they will be eligible to enter a draw for great prizes.
Maker and Mini Maker Faires are held in over 150 communities around the world, an extension of the popular and widely-read Make magazine. They are family-friendly showcases of invention, creativity and resourcefulness for modern day MacGuyvers.
The inaugural Sunshine Coast Mini Maker Faire (SCMMF) is a four-hour combination of indoor and outdoor exhibitions, including Army of Evil Robots, Mellon Glass Studio, Roberts Creek Plastismith, Medieval Makers, a robot arm, arduino puzzle box, Kranked Bikes, Coast Cable, steampunk projects and Get Makered’s mobile 3D design and print studio trailer, Maker One.
Lead organizers include Dave Chisholm, Derek Anderson, Diane Mueller, Laurie McConnell, Duane Perret and Bryan Cramer. The SCMMF is grateful to main sponsors Make magazine, Gibsons Chamber of Commerce, CoastMakers.com, Coast Cable, the Sunshine Coast Credit Union, and other businesses and organizations on the Coast excited to interact with the Maker movement.
