The Bellies and Babies and Parent Tot Drop-In programs of Sunshine Coast Community Services Society (SCCSS) are hosting their fourth Community Clothing Swap for adults and children on Saturday, Sept. 29, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Seaside Centre (5790 Teredo St. in Sechelt). The event is free and clothing donations will be accepted the day of the event.

Bellies and Babies and Parent Tot Drop-In offer support, resources and connections to pregnant women and new parents on the Sunshine Coast. Shirley French, the program lead for the two SCCSS programs, discovered that many families face challenges finding clothing for their children, and often themselves, on the Coast.

As a response, the Community Clothing Swap started in 2017. Held twice a year, the free event gives Sunshine Coast residents an opportunity to give second life to their own clothing while getting new to them items they may need for themselves and their family.

“But you don’t have to bring clothing to get clothing,” French says. “The goal is to make sure everyone, from newborns to seniors, have access to clothes.”
