Once again the Canadian Federation of University Women Sunshine Coast (CFUW-SC) begins the season by hosting an annual Open House: Pair and Share, for members and guests interested in membership or learning more about CFUW.
For nearly 30 years CFUW-SC has been part of the community as a service and social club where thoughtful women can come together to share ideas, interests and hospitality.
With a commitment to promoting and supporting the status of women and human rights, CFUW-SC recently hosted a three-party federal candidates’ meeting (June 15) which featured, in part, discussion about women’s rights in Canada today. As a keen supporter of education, the CFUW Sunshine Coast Bursary Fund was once again successful this past year in awarding several bursaries to local women to help further their education at a post-secondary level. With several lively interest groups currently active, new groups emerge as membership needs change, the newest one being the Writers’ Group. The June luncheon and Fifty Shades of Summer Fashion Show at Sunshine Coast Golf and Country Club was good fun.
If you have an affinity with CFUW’s philosophy and pursuits and are interested in finding out more about CFUW-SC or considering membership, you are most welcome to join. Dare to share what makes you tick and reveal your talents. Two questions to consider if you plan on coming to this meeting: “If you were a boat, what would you be?” and “Have you ever heard of ‘speed-dating’?”
The Open House: Pair and Share will take place Monday, Sept. 28 from 9:30 a.m. to noon at St. John’s Church, 5085 Davis Bay Rd., Davis Bay. See also: www.cfuwsc.org
