The Sunshine Coast Conservation Association (SCCA) is hosting its Celebration of Conservation event at the Robert's Creek Hall this Saturday at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for children 12 and under, and free for ages five and under, available at the door.
The SCCA represents various biodiversity issues on the Sunshine Coast and has become the unifying voice of conservation for local residents since 1996. It is an umbrella organization for more that 30 groups, working within the law and using appropriate advocacy techniques to further the protection of biodiversity. When conservation issues arise, people turn to the SCCA for help in communicating their concerns to government, industry and the public.
This event is a gathering for our community and all our members to celebrate our environment and recognize the incredible biodiversity that we have. It is a way to bring together all the committed individuals and like-minded souls on the Coast who appreciate the natural beauty that we have and share ways to preserve it.
SCCA member groups, including the Iris Griffith Centre, Friends of Gospel Rock, Save the Day Coalition, One Straw Society, Deer Crossing the Art Farm and Elphinstone Logging Focus, will also be attending this fun event. Come and enjoy the delicious appetizers, drinks and delightful music by Sweet Cascadia, Brothers in Farms, Dan's Daughters and other local talents. There are also great door prizes from local merchants to be won.
If you have bought raffle tickets for the beautiful Seaward Halo Kayak and overnight stay at West Coast Wilderness Lodge, you won't want to miss this event, as we will be drawing the winning tickets at 8 p.m. There is also a second prize of two Helly Hansen jackets donated by Patrick Mark of Mr. Mender and a third prize of an overnight stay at the Painted Boat in Madeira Park. If you have not purchased your raffle ticket yet, it is not too late. Tickets are on sale from directors, at Gaia's Fair Trade and at the event until 7:45 p.m. Please contact [email protected] for tickets as well.
