Build a bat house or nesting box

Mireille Stiles and Mary Beth Knechtel build a bat house at a Wildlife Project workshop Nov. 12 at the Sechelt Legion.

The Sunshine Coast Wildlife Project is hosting a weekend devoted to helping animals, with two Homes for Wildlife workshops.

On Nov. 18 at the Iris Griffith Nature Centre in Pender Harbour, or on Nov. 19 at Frank West Hall in Gibsons, community members can drop by any time between noon and 4 p.m. to build their own bat house, mason bee home, or owl, duck, or swallow nest box from an easy-to-assemble kit with the assistance of Wildlife Project volunteers.

Those who already have mason bee homes can bring in their bee tubes or blocks for help cleaning their cocoons and guidance about winter care of the bees.
