Botanical Garden welcomes kids

Gardeneers
garden
The Gardeneers program is designed especially for children aged three to five.

This summer the Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden is an ideal place to bring your kids or grandkids to romp along paths and through meadows, explore pond life, or just kick a beach ball through giant croquet hoops in the picnic area.

Enrol children from three to five years in the July Gardeneers program designed especially for them. It is a rewarding exposure to nature, growing plants, and exploring things from tiny bugs to huge trees. Gardeneers runs Tuesdays, July 7, 14 and 21 from 10 to 11:30 a.m., and participation is by donation ($5 - $25 suggested).  The program is as much fun for the accompanying adults as for the youngsters. Register or enquire by phone (604-740-8112 or 604-740-3969) or email [email protected]

The volunteer instructors at Gardeneers have had many years of creating happy, stimulating learning environments. Each week kids will hear stories, walk in meadow, forest or vegetable garden, plant seeds, develop their five senses and become more curious about the environment.

Each family should bring a snack and dress for the weather, rain or shine. If you and your child can attend only one or two sessions, check ahead for space availability.

Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden is at 5941 Mason Rd. in West Sechelt, and is open for summer hours Friday to Wednesday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., by donation. Members enjoy unlimited visits plus many extra perks. For information about Gardeneers or other opportunities for families, see www.coastbotanicalgarden.org
