Hi everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful week and were able to find a cool place to relax. Looks like this weekend will be a scorcher so stay hydrated, use sunblock and wear a hat when outdoors for an extended period of time.
During these dry hot days, our water consumption rises as we try to keep our vegetable gardens, trees and shrubs hydrated. Be sure to follow the current Stage 1 watering restrictions until July 4. Stage 2 will be in effect on July 5 which indicates that lawn watering will not be permitted along with other limitations on when and how to water.
Water conservation regulations help ensure that demand does not exceed the capacity of our water supply and distribution system and also ensures that there is always enough water for fire protection. It is also recommended that if you have guests staying with you or have a vacation rental, that you encourage your visitors to conserve water as they may not know that our water supply is limited during the summer months. If we are all aware of the water limitations and follow simple guidelines, we should have enough for us to enjoy all summer long.
The Halfmoon Bay branch of the Sunshine Coast Healthcare Auxiliary were very busy last week contributing to the Halfmoon Bay Elementary Community School Sports Day on June 15. A team of four thoughtful and dedicated members bought, packaged and delivered 200 cups of assorted fruits for the students to enjoy during their fun-filled day. This wonderful task was spearheaded by Shelley Grainger, Lorraine Blakeman, Karen Biddlecombe, and Moira Sarling. What an awesome healthy idea for a Sports Day treat! I still remember Wagon Wheels, soggy hot dogs and orange pop which stained your mouth and tongue orange. We’ve sure come a long way! Thank you, ladies, for this great idea and all your hard work!
The Halfmoon Bay Community Association would like to remind everyone that their first Town Hall meeting with Lori Pratt is scheduled on Monday, June 28 at 7 p.m. and will be presented via Zoom. There are 90 seats available and login information is available on their website (hmbcommunity.org), on HBCoA Facebook page and an email sent to HBCoA members. For more information or if you have any questions, please send an email to [email protected].
A final list of topics for discussion will be available prior to the meeting. The association has noted that each topic will have three questions followed by a question-and-answer period if time permits. Topics that were not on the list at this time will be addressed at the next Town Hall meeting scheduled for Oct. 18 in conjunction with the HBCoA AGM.
Be safe, be gentle, and always be kind. Have your “Say at the Bay,” contact me before 5 p.m. on Mondays. [email protected].
