The Pender Harbour Living Heritage Society’s collection of archival photos and documents are now available online.

They can be accessed by going to the society’s website – www.penderharbourheritage.ca – and clicking on “Collections” then “Digital Collection.”

A fun way to explore is to click on “Random Images” where you’ll see a collection of Pender Harbour area images, randomly displayed.

Or go to “Click and Search” to search alphabetically by People, Creator, Search Terms or Subjects (these terms go from more specific to general). For example, if you’d like to see all the photos with people having picnics, go to Subjects/P/Picnics. To see photos with unidentified people, go to People/U/Unknown. Please let the society know if you can help with any identification, dates or locations.

There is no charge to use the database. If you would like high-resolution photos for personal or educational use, the $15 fee per digital file helps support the archives. All proceeds from sales of our book, Women of Pender Harbour: Their Voices, Their History, made this database possible so a big “thank you” to everyone who bought the book.

If you have archival material to donate, the society would love to hear from you. In the meantime, enjoy exploring the site and check back often as many more records are being added.  And, yes, be prepared to lose hours.
