Friday, July 30, a special Madeira Market will open at 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for your shopping pleasure in the Courtyard at the Hall. Saturday hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Artisans with unique, delicious, beautiful, crafted items include Bare Essentials, Beads & Blooms ($10 bouquets are back), Judy’s Handcrafted Gifts, Peach Tree Creations, Rock Art Gallery, Sunshine Coast Bear Alliance, and Wendy’s Bakery (yum). Spend time in the shady gardens where you can enjoy outstanding fish & chips, gourmet burgers, BLTs and cool shakes from Tony’s Triple BBBs. Order well in advance.
After lunch take a stroll to the Harbour Gallery, full of local artists’ masterpieces just half a block away, open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and located in the midst of heritage buildings on the edge of Millennium Park near the waterfront.
Live music triple header at the Clubhouse this weekend! Friday, July 30, the Dinner Show, 5 to 8 p.m. The musical duo Shine will entertain as you enjoy a perfectly prepared dinner special.
Sunday afternoon Aug. 1, from 2 to 5 p.m., the extremely popular Peter Van Trio return with their great signature sound. The B.C. Day Party, Monday, Aug.2, will be a super celebration with the Steve Hinton Band performing on the patio 2 to 5 p.m. Reserve your table now.
Not only is the live music outstanding at the Clubhouse but every element is top drawer and so enjoyable – the vistas, the food, the service and award-winning hospitality. Hot tip: try the popcorn scallops with seafood sauce. So delish!
More musical news – mark your calendars boaters, the Mellquist family is once again generously hosting live music on their dock for a hallmark birthday. Ken Melliquist is turning 65 Aug. 29. More details to come.
Have you registered? Royal Canadian Legion #112 will host its annual golf tournament Saturday, Aug. 14 starting at 2 p.m. The playing format is a modified Texas Scramble. Entries are $50 per person which includes golf, dinner, and prizes. Power cart rentals are not included in this entry fee. Registrations accepted at the legion and the tournament entry deadline is Aug. 1.
Soon there will be a special place around the treasured EarthFair store. In the area behind the store in downtown Madeira, an inviting garden full of native plants, benches to rest and reflect, a stage where interesting topics will be shared is in the works.
