A seriously funny gala fundraiser

Event organizer Chad Joe with Maureen Clayton, past chair of St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation.

Congratulations to Chad Joe and his supporters for Comedy on the Coast’s fifth straight year hosting a sold out event! The evening offered more than just humour, although the laughs were plenty. It also provided an opportunity for the Sunshine Coast community to come together in support of families and children’s health. The funds raised — over $148,000 in the past four years, not including Saturday night — were in support of St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation and the Sunshine Coast Association for Community Living (SCACL).

The crowd of 200-plus people enjoyed appetizers served by Mount Elphinstone students and some of the adults from Sunshine Coast Association for Community Living, beer and wine tasting, dessert at intermission and some good laughs, thanks to the three featured comedians.

An impassioned presentation from Chad Joe emphasized the importance of supporting children and families with the best care possible, right here on the Coast. Over the years the funds raised by Comedy on the Coast have provided critical infant care technology for St. Mary’s Hospital. This year the funds will help to purchase an infant resuscitation mannequin for training at the hospital.

A big thank you to all who rolled up their sleeves to help make this event another success!
