Sunshine Coast Community Services Society (SCCSS) will once again host the 14th annual Children’s Festival & Duck Pluck alongside title sponsors Sunshine Coast Credit Union and The Co-operators.
“As cooperatives, we share common principles, and one of these is concern for our community,” said Shelley McDade, CEO of Sunshine Coast Credit Union. “We’re thrilled to collaborate with The Co-operators and to be part of this event again in support of the positive impact that Community Services makes locally.”
The Children’s Festival will be held on Saturday, June 27 from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Dougall Park in Gibsons. The day is filled with entertainment and fun things for families: face painting, pony rides, a bouncy castle, stilt walkers, music and the famous Duck Pluck raffle.
Mayor Wayne Rowe of Gibsons and Mayor Bruce Milne of Sechelt will be on deck to do the duck plucking and announce the winners. Raffle tickets are available at all Sunshine Coast Credit Union branches, The Co-operators office in Gibsons and Sunshine Coast Community Services at 5638 Inlet Ave. in Sechelt. Get your tickets today for a chance to win over $4,000 in locally sourced prizes.
All proceeds raised from the event will be used to support children in their formative years and their parents through programs provided by SCCSS. Bellies & Babies, for example, is a program that provides individual and peer support for pregnant and postnatal mothers covering issues such as healthy lifestyle choices, post-partum depression, breastfeeding, baby development and parenting.
