The 18th annual Sleepy Hollow Rod Run was a huge success. Last Friday night, Aug. 9, 416 cars started out from Hackett Park for the rod run that leaves Highway 101 to wind its way up and down Redrooffs Road through Halfmoon Bay.

Next weekend, Aug. 23 to 25, Deer Crossing the Art Farm, in partnership with Sunshine Coast Credit Union, will host the Synchronicity Festival at Shirley Macey Park in Gibsons.

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of The Beachcombers, the Sunshine Coast Museum and Archives is launching a new and improved Beachcombers exhibit this Saturday, Aug. 17 from 1 to 3 p.m.

This Tuesday, Aug. 20, graffiti artists, muralists, youth, skateboarders, BMXers and community supporters will converge at the Sechelt Skateboard Park on Cowrie Street for Paint the Park.

What started as a warm summer August day gave rise to a great show 'n' shine last Sunday in Garden Bay. There were 73 entrants, from 1923 up to modern hot rods and some great motorcycles.

Cadet Nirmal Sadasivuni of Sechelt is spending his summer at the regional gliding school (Pacific) on the air cadet glider pilot scholarship course. Nirmal is one of 44 air cadets selected from across B.C.

A family fair usually means fun for the kids, and the children turned out in droves at the Gambier Island fair last Saturday to dress like pirates, eat sunflower cupcakes and play games in the community hall.
