Kisses and Kicks: November 22 edition

Here are the good deeds (and not so good deeds) that happened in our Coast community this week!
Kisses & Kicks
Kisses & Kicks

Here are your kicks and kisses for the week of November 22!

  • Kicks to the fuel stations that can’t seem to be bothered to maintain the equipment. Broken receipt printers, broken pumps, etc. if you can’t maintain your business sell it to someone who will.
  • Kisses to the lovely Serena who not only rescued me from a missed connection on Thursday’s 5:30 ferry, she immediately offered to drive me home.  Her kindness eased my difficult day, and I’m sure we will meet again to continue our discussion on health, art, and life in general.  It’s “the Coast Way”!
  • Big kicks to the school bus loaded with kids pulled out onto the Highway 101 at Roberts Creek intersection. Tuesday afternoon, I had the right of way with a green light and doing 80, you’re to yield to me.
  • Kicks to the prickly clothing store in Trail Bay Mall who shamed my daughter and her friend for trick or treating in the mall, citing that it’s only for young kids when the advertising clearly stated that it was an event for everyone. It’s really terrific when high school kids dress up and set a good example to the smaller kids - they could be doing a lot worse at 16! Please praise them instead of shaming them.
  • Kisses to the witch in black giving out treats to folks waiting in emergency on Halloween night. It was only once I got there that I realized I hadn’t eaten anything, and two granola bars helped make my wait a little easier.
  • Kicks to the guy who lives next door. You decide to live on the precipice of some of the most wild and amazing wilderness and coastline in the world! And you complain about wildlife and the smell of the ocean?? Open your eyes. We ALL have better things to do!
  • Endless kisses to Colleen and Sue. Your patient, genuine, loving care for my sister -- and for all Silverstone residents -- gives me hope for this world. No words enough to thank you.
  • A huge bouquet of kisses to the generous public who turned out to watch the Witches of Sechelt dance Oct. 26 and 27.  We send out a sincere thank you for your financial donations which enabled the Witches to present a cheque for $1,600 to Sunshine Coast Hospice. What a great community we live in!
  • Kisses to our wonderful community  for supporting the SCHA, Hopkins Fall Bazaar & Marketplace fundraiser last Saturday at the Gibsons Legion. All funds raised go directly to support healthcare needs here on the Sunshine Coast.
  • Kisses to my Ambulance Paramedics, Dr. Broad, Emergency Dept. and treatment! Impressed and grateful for their expertise and kindness.

Email your Kisses and Kicks to [email protected]. The deadline for submissions is 1 p.m. every Tuesday for a given week.

Coast Reporter will run kisses and kicks entries as space permits on a first-received, first-published basis.

Submissions must be accompanied by a name and phone number for confirmation by the editor. Names will not be printed in the column unless requested by the writer, for kisses only.

A kick is intended to be an anonymous critique between private parties and may in no way publicly identify an individual, group or business directly or indirectly.

Submissions must be no longer than 30 words. If your thanks or critique is longer, consider an ad in our classified section. The editor reserves the right to edit or refuse to run any submission.
