Kisses and Kicks: Kisses to BC Ferries 'luggage luggers', kicks to sidewalk blocking

Here are the good deeds (and not so good deeds) that happened in our Coast community this week!
Kisses & Kicks
Kisses & Kicks

Here are your kicks and kisses for the week of April 21!

  • Kisses to the team of wonderful people in the maternity department of Sechelt Hospital, especially the nurses. You are all so kind, knowledgeable and hard working. Thank you for everything you do for mothers, birth partners and babies.
  • BIG KISSES to the BC Ferries luggage luggers who make it so easy for walk-on passengers to check their bags at Langdale and have them magically appear in Horseshoe Bay (and vice versa), avoiding injuries to backs, arms and other ferry passengers. My beloved telemark skis have happily made this journey many times.
  • Kisses and thanks for the generous donations to the Food Bank Drive at the Independent Store on April 1. Super thank you to “AL” who delivered several boxes of food and household supplies!
  • Major kicks to the dog owner (s) who had their dog off leash and killed a beautiful peacock beloved by his neighbours. Keep your pets under control and leashed so other creatures don’t pay the ultimate price. What a sad day.
  • Kisses and gratitude to Sergio who rescued our lost dog at the trailhead and brought her to us at the bottom of the hill. You are indeed a knight in shining armour!
  • Kisses to everyone who is concerned when a guy gets a black eye! Thanks!
  • Kicks to the women standing on the sidewalk on Cowrie Street Easter Monday. Walking around them  caused me to trip over the District of Sechelt’s very dangerous planter boxes and hit my head on the sidewalk. Maybe next time step aside.
  • Kisses to the two gentlemen who came to my rescue when I tripped on the sidewalk.
  • Kisses to homeowners and landscapers who trim their trees and hedges so everyone can enjoy the views and vistas.
  • Happy Easter hugs to Clayton’s bakery! What a spectacular array of treats you selected for our brunch! Thank you for your consistent excellence!
  • Kisses to Claytons for the wonderful meat and two beautiful cakes - celebrating a reunion, special birthday and Easter was made that much more memorable and delicious!

Email your Kisses and Kicks to [email protected]. The deadline for submissions is 1 p.m. every Tuesday for a given week.

Coast Reporter will run kisses and kicks entries as space permits on a first-received, first-published basis.

Submissions must be accompanied by a name and phone number for confirmation by the editor. Names will not be printed in the column unless requested by the writer, for kisses only.

A kick is intended to be an anonymous critique between private parties and may in no way publicly identify an individual, group or business directly or indirectly.

Submissions must be no longer than 30 words. If your thanks or critique is longer, consider an ad in our classified section. The editor reserves the right to edit or refuse to run any submission.
